Language Standardization in Technical Documentation for ROTAX® Aircraft Engines
This service letter applies to all ROTAX® aircraft engines.
As of September 1st, 2016 BRP-ROTAX has switched all of its documentation for Aircraft Engines to “English only”..
Because English is the standard aviation documentation language worldwide, the language of all original texts in technical documentation for ROTAX® aircraft engines has been standardized to English.
Where translations exist, the English version is now deemed authoritative.
Rotax Mandatory Service Bulletin: Serial number ranges are detailed in ASB-912-069 / ASB-914-051 (certified engines) and ASB-912-069UL / ASB-914-051UL / ASB-2ST-003 (UL engines).

Incomplete review of all the information in this document can cause errors. Read the entire Service Letter to make sure you have a complete understanding of the requirements.
Applicability – Ikarus C42 all models.
The problem appears primarily to affect high hours (1000hr+) early examples of the C42 on which the affected cut-outs were made manually. Later models are machine cut, and are thought less likely to exhibit the problem but they remain subject to this service bulletin until further notice. 2009 – 2014. Final report 9 March 2016 AR2013-107.
Over the 6-year study period between 2009 and 2014, 322 engine failures or malfunctions involving light aircraft were reported to the Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) and/or Recreational Aviation Australia (RA-Aus). Jabiru Service Letter JSL019-2 (ver.2) dated 14th of December 2015: Rudder End Cable Inspection, all Jabiru aircraft. A single incident involving the precautionary landing of a Jabiru aircraft has highlighted a condition which can potentially lead to an in-flight loss of rudder control.
ROTAX RELEASES Service Instruction SI-912-23: Introduction of a radiator retrofit kit for 912 series. A retrofit kit (part number 881535) has been released. It is designed to adapt the “New Style” 997083 radiator (with sloped sides) to an installation where rectangular mounting is desired. Read the SI-912-23.

På nogle Savannah’er har man afmonteret slotsene. På en forespørgsel til fabrikken ICP via den danske forhandler, har vi fået det svar, at fabrikken ikke vil godkende at man afmonterer slotsene.
Det vil så sige at flyene ikke er luftdygtige, før slotsene er genmonteret.
Dette gælder ikke VG modellerne hvor der aldrig har været slots.

Rotax releases service bulletin SB-914-050 and SB-914-959UL: “Replacement of the overload clutch”. Due to a deviation in the manufacturing process, certain ROTAX 914 series engines with optional gearbox overload clutches may be prone to unwanted slippage.
The “Expanded Information” video provides additional information for SB-914-050 which covers the replacement of the propeller gearbox overload clutch on certain Rotax 914 aircraft engines.

Rotax releases revised ‘TR’ pages for 912/914 Installation Manuals.
If you have a recent 912 or 914 (since 2013) – or your older engine has been updated with one or more of the “new style” cylinder heads – be sure to download and carefully review these important updates!
Waterless coolant formulations (Evans, or others) are NO LONGER APPROVED for use in any 912 or 914 engines equipped with the “New Style” (2013 or later) cylinder heads.

Rotax has released a Mandatory Bulletin
requiring exchange of the carburetor floats on certain Rotax 912/914 series engines and carbs. All 912/914 Carburetor floats in the ranges of applicability described in this bulletin must be replaced by new “marked” replacement floats, which will be marked with one or two embossed ‘dot’ markers as shown.

New Service Letter from Jabiru JSL015-1 regarding the 2200 engine.
Background: In July 2014 Jabiru Aircraft released a notification to owners
of certain 2200 engines regarding a potential issue affecting their ignition systems.
The issue can occur when the housing for the spring-loaded central carbon brush rubs
against the rotor as it turns. Over time in service the friction in this area can “weld” the
rotor to the cap and in some cases has led to a failure of the rotor and then of the

Rotax Alert Service Bulletin ASB-912-061UL-R1 Revision 1.
Note: This ASB only affects some hoses supplied by Rotax, it is serial number specific.
More serial numbers are affected than previously indicated.
Rotax has released an Alert on a select group of fuel lines found with the 893114 fuel pumps.
This was due to reports of some rubber debris coming from the inside covering of the fuel lines
that could possibly contaminate the carburetion jetting.

Rockwell Collins` new electronic dual-channel Engine Control Unit (ECU) will be featured on the Rotax® 912 iS (non-certified) piston engine for Light Sport Aircraft (LSA).
This ECU, which is the first that meets aerospace design assurance standards for certification in the LSA market, was announced at a launch event today at the BRP-Powertrain factory in Gunskirchen, Austria, an affiliate of Bombardier Recreational Products Inc. (BRP).
– Rotax 912iS: Can I retro-fit the injection to the engine?
NO, it is a new engine with new block, crankshaft, ignition to name a few parts.
